Teledyne Relays Announces Family Of Surface-Mount Relays For RF applications up to 2.5 GHz
HAWTHORNE, California (March 24, 2004) - Teledyne Relays today introduced the Series GRF172 electromechanical relay, which is designed to provide a practical surface-mount solution for RF applications up to 2.5 GHz.
The GRF172 is an ultraminiature armature relay. Applications include telecommunications, test instruments, mobile communications, attenuators and automatic test equipment.
As a member of the Centigrid® family of relays from Teledyne Relays, the GRF172 has a low profile height of .330" and terminals spaced on a .100" grid, making it well suited for applications where extreme packaging density and close PC board spacing are required.
The GRF172 features a unique ground shield that isolates and shields each lead to ensure excellent contact-to-contact and pole-to-pole isolation. This ground shield provides a ground interface that results in improved high-frequency performance as well as parametric repeatability.
As the latest in a continuing series of surface-mount relays being developed at Teledyne Relays, the GRF172 extends performance advantages over similar RF devices that simply offer formed leads for surface mounting.
The GRF172 is available in three coil voltages - 5, 12 and 26 volts DC. The Series GRF172D has an internal discrete silicon diode for coil transient suppression.
The relay is hermetically sealed to offer robust shock, vibration, temperature and ESD resistance as well as EMI shielding.
In addition to providing RF performance data such as insertion loss, isolation and VSWR, Teledyne Relays has expanded its relay characterization to include pulse rise time and propagation delay time.
The GRF172 measures .335 x .335 x .330 inches (8.51 x 8.51 x 8.38 mm) and weighs 0.09 oz. (2.55g).
The relays are priced at $13.89 each in quantities of 500 units. Lead time for delivery is 10 weeks.
